چکیده

Orthogonal multi-carrier direct sequence code division multiple access (orthogonal MC DS-CDMA) is a combination of time-domain spreading and orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM). In orthogonal MC DS-CDMA, the frequency diversity gain can be obtained by applying frequency-domain equalization (FDE) based on minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion to a block of OFDM symbols and can improve the bit error rate (BER) performance in a severe frequency-selective fading channel. FDE requires an accurate estimate of the channel gain. The channel gain can be estimated by removing the pilot modulation in the frequency domain. In this paper, we propose a pilot-assisted channel estimation suitable for orthogonal MC DS-CDMA with FDE and evaluate, by computer simulation, the BER performance in a frequency-selective Rayleigh fading channel. key words: orthogonal MC DS-CDMA, frequency-domain equalization, pilot-assisted channel estimation

BER Performance of DS-CDMA with Frequency-domain Equalization using Pilot-assisted Channel Estimation

Abstract In direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA), frequency-domain equalization (FDE) based on minimum mean square error (MMSE) criterion can be applied to exploit the channel frequency-selectivity and therefore much improved bit error rate (BER) performance than using the conventional rake combining. MMSE-FDE requires accurate frequency-domain channel estimation. In this pap...

Joint Frequency-domain Equalization and Antenna Diversity Combining for Orthogonal Multicode DS-CDMA Signal Transmissions in A Frequency-selective Fading Channel

Orthogonal multicode direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) has a flexibility in offering various data rate services. However, in a frequency-selective fading channel, the bit error rate (BER) performance is severely degraded since othogonality among spreading codes is partially lost. In this paper, we apply frequency-domain equalization and antenna diversity combining, used in...

Frequency-domain Differential Detection and Equalization of Differentially Encoded DS-CDMA Signals

Similar to the single-carrier transmission [1], the bit error rate (BER) performance of DS-CDMA in a frequency-selective fading channel can be significantly improved with coherent frequency-domain equalization (FDE) instead of using Rake combining [2][3]. However, coherent FDE requires accurate channel estimation and the imperfect channel estimation results in the performance degradation. For p...

Single-Carrier Frequency-Domain Equalization for Orthogonal STBC over Frequency-Selective MIMO-PLC channels

In this paper we propose a new space diversity scheme for broadband PLC systems using orthogonal space-time block coding (OSTBC) transmission combined with single-carrier frequency-domain equalization (SC-FDE). To apply this diversity technique to PLC channels, we first propose a new technique for combining SC-FDE with OSTBCs applicable to all dispersive multipath channels impaired by impulsive...
